My last day in Paris

For Kate O’Neil

Sunday was our last day in Paris. The sunrise was gorgeous. We left the hotel early and took a taxi to the train station thru the backstreets of Paris. It’s amazing how quiet the city is on a Sunday morning. We broke our fast on espresso and croissants.

“One of the pleasures… was the long ride on a fast train.” - A. Bourdain

I was able to finish two books on the trip. One was of a meal at a famous three-star. The other, where David Sedaris moves to France. I’m grateful for the timing of things. The ride thru the Chunnel was great for catching up on my reading between naps.

After a London cabbie taking us to Heathrow, we had tea and a proper English breakfast.

@UnitedAirlines was wonderful. As KB mentioned, the woman at check-in was wonderful. On the flight over I had a mini-movie marathon watching:

Sherlock Holmes
The Book of Eli
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
Wall*E (again)

In between films was when I finished off the second book.

Props to the SFO flight crew for landing in 409 MPH winds and to Kevin and Kate for being at Cannes!

Yeah, I did a bunch of cliche things in Paris.

C’est parfait indeed.
